William Lauzon is a third-year pursuing a dual-degree in Commerce and Computing at Queen’s University. Will started his photography business when he was in the ninth grade. This is when he had his first professional photoshoot and has worked to grow his client base since!
We asked Will some questions about his journey and William Lauzon Photography, here is what he had to say:
Where did you get the inspiration to start this hustle?
I got the inspiration from one of my high school teachers, who encouraged me to make a profession out of my photographic interests.
What’s the big idea?
My big idea is to be able to provide the highest-quality possible photos to students while maintaining a sharp focus on customer service.
What was the biggest challenge you faced starting the company?
The biggest challenge has been client management and managing client expectations - 95% of customers are extremely satisfied, but the 5% of less satisfied customers create an interesting challenge.
What are your plans/goals for the future?
Over the next few years, I'd love to continue to grow the business through offering headshots to an expanded market of students at Queen's, including full executives. My goal is to ensure that all students can have access to high-quality headshots at attainable rates.
